For Your Reading Pleasure

We change the format from time to time, but the goal is to at least one time each year to read every word of the Bible together as a family.  In 2011 we started our reading an old testament passage at breakfast, Psalms and Proverbs at lunchtime and a New Testament passage at dinner.  That took us through the Old Testament once, Psalms twice, Proverbs 12 times, and the New Testament twice.

As of Christmas, several Kindles have joined our Bible reading time, which has several advantages and disadvantages.  One being instant access to Strong's Concordance, Noah Webster's 1828 Dictionary and the Matthew Henry Commentary.  There are some negatives, too.  Not the least being the absence of a good old fashioned leather and paper Bible.

When you finish a book on your Kindle a window pops up asking you to rate it.  We finished Revelation again on New Year's Eve.  Everyone rated the Bible with five stars.

After you rate a book, the Kindle gives you another window with recommendations for future reading based on your preferences.  We all got a chuckle out of this heading:  "More books by God."
Blessings for a New Year of growing closer to our wondrous creator as we commune with Him daily in the Word.

Hugs,

Kat

1 ways you spiced up my day:

  1. How funny - we're using my Kindle for our daily Bible reading too! We are using the One Year Bible. We check the Bible reading for the day and then use our "normal" Bibles. :)

I enjoy hearing from those who stop by Art's Chili Pepper both by comment and email. I find it thrilling to discuss various viewpoints. I welcome emails and comments from readers who wish to share their thoughts on my posts or politely debate different Biblical truths. While I do not require you to agree with my opinions, I do require you to state your position in the kind and loving manner befitting a Christian.

In the post Romans 14:19 I have clearly laid out the purpose of this blog and the requirements for any correspondence from readers. This blog is to be a place of edifying and exhortation. I will not accept any comments or email intended to be argumentative or that shows unkindness. If your comment does not meet that criteria, I will delete it.

Furthermore, I have tried to keep this blog as open as possible so as to allow for free discussion and the sharing of minds and hearts. I can not allow the work to be hindered by making this a place of ugliness. I will not allow my family to be upset by hateful comments. Because of unpleasant correspondence, comments here are now monitored before publication. I am sorry it must be that way but for the joy of all who visit, I see no way around it. I try to moderate them quickly but be patient if it takes a little time for me to get back to you.

Additionally, you know who I am and it is only polite to identify yourself when leaving a comment. I consider it nothing but cowardice to hide behind anonymity when leaving venomous comments. Therefor from this point on this blog will be set only to receive comments from registered readers.

One more thing to consider, this blog is intended as a service to those who want to grow closer to the Lord, enrich their spiritual life, share ideas on child training or home schooling or explore ways to enrich married life. If you do not like what you read, you merely need to hit that red "X" in the top right hand corner of your screen.

Love to each of my dear readers,

Kat~ Art's Chili Pepper
